Following the Q&A by Carey Lundin, light refreshments will be provided. DVD’s of the film will be available for purchase along with a plant sale.

“Jens Jensen – The Living Green,” profiles the Danish-born immigrant who rose from poverty to become one of the nation’s most effective conservationists using his art, landscape architecture, as activism. Jensen revolutionized landscape architecture, using only native plants to bring nature to Chicago’s working poor and industrialists alike, designing over 600 landscapes and earning him the moniker “Dean of Landscape Architects.”  Jensen’s green spaces countered the rapid development brought on by industrialization in Chicago. He often battled the plans of capitalists such as J.P. Morgan and Andrew Carnegie, with the support of Henry and Edsel Ford.  Jens Jensen is considered one of the nation’s most effective and early conservationists, in a league with Aldo Leopold and Gaylord Nelson.
