Pullman Companion Animal Blessing
October 1 @ 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Sunday October 1st we will gather to celebrate our beloved animal companions at Historic Pullman Foundation Exhibit Hall from 1pm to 4pm.
Joining us once again will be the Chicago Herpetological Society with some amazing reptilian creatures with which to interact. Flint Creek Wildlife joins us as well to answer questions and possibly bring a raptor (bird). A ranger from NPS-Pullman National Historic Park will be our guest speaker to discuss the importance of how we interact and respect the wildlife flora and fauna in our ecosystem.
We are thrilled to welcome the return of Pullman’s own Sharon Quattrin and Q Kiser, who will amaze all of us with their musical talent.
Our vegan food selections will allow us to enjoy a compassionate, earth friendly and delicious meal. Local businesses have generously donated products and gift certificates for our raffle and silent auctions.
If any of our Pullman artists would like to donate a piece of your work , or if you have an interesting item that would be appropriate as a raffle or auction item, please contact us at SchereckDesgins@sbcglobal.net. This would be most appreciated. New this year will be face painting for children only.
The focal point of the day will be the blessing ceremony!! This takes place approximately 3-3:45pm and will be administered by Fr. Mark of St. Anthony’s Church and Rev. Luther of The Greenstone Church. The raffle drawings and closing of auction will take place after the blessing.
We welcome not only dogs and cats, but other companion animals… all dogs must be leashed and other animals safely contained in a cage or carrier. We ask that you be mindful of your animal’s personality or aggressive behaviors. If your dog needs to be kept apart from others or muzzled, please leave in your car for their blessing.
The finale will be the pet parade, lead by Pullman’s own Andy Bullen and his concertina renditions. Even if you do not have a companion animal, come join us for this memorable event.
